NEXT EXHIBITION : Wallace Art Awards 2008

11 October 2008 - 3 February 2009
TheNewDowse is the only Wellington venue for this prestigious contemporary art awards show from the Wallace Arts Trust. Presented locally by Gillespie Young Watson, the exhibition features work from 48 finalists, including Paramount Award Winner Richard Lewer's Skill, Discipline, Training.
Judge Dick Frizzell will speak at a special event on 15 October 2008, hosted by TheNewDowse Friends. This event is now BOOKED OUT.

NEXT EVENT : Craft 2.0 and Huttette's 21st

Saturday 11 October 2008, 10am - 3pm
This spring indie craft fair features new season's clothing, jewellery, toys and hand-made gifts. The first 100 people through the door win a goodie bag full of fun. Plus anyone can enter the prize draw to win over $200 of crafty creations courtesy. It's also Huttette's birthday - she's the baby doll in A Family Occasion who has been remade as a 21 year old by artist Vita Cochran - come see how she's turned out!!

LATEST EXHIBITIONS : "our stories" and IHC Telecom Art Awards 2008

“our stories“ sends the message that people with disabilities have a right to participate in the community, to share in family life, have a job and ambitions.

Based on photographs by Hanne Johnsen and Glenn Busch’s book, The Man With No Arms & Other Stories, the project is run in partnership by IHC and CCS Disability Action. Check out the free student film festival on Tuesday 2 December.

The IHC Telecom Art Awards were established in 2004 to encourage the creativity of New Zealanders with an intellectual disability. The top 30 artworks are exhibited at TheNewDowse, and the four national winners will be announced in late September.
