New Zealanders’ generosity of spirit has been applauded after the swift and successful adoption of six Stitches.
Adoption co-ordinator, Claire Regnault, says although many of the woolly creatures sport less-than-desirable traits, the response has been phenomenal.
“Goodman, who enjoys sausage rolls and sports was quickly picked up by a like-minded Kiwi, but there were some that we were particularly concerned about – especially Cletos, who abhors bathing. Within three days, all six of the Stitches had been adopted, which illustrates the incredible compassion and kind-heartedness of New Zealanders.”
Director of TheNewDowse, Tim Walker is one of the most recent surrogate parents. He says his yellow and black Stitch, Cletos, bears the emotional scars typical of a Stitch that has suffered a deeply tragic life.
Hailing from England, the Stitches have come from the British design company Airside. Several years ago, the humanitarian company began to vigorously campaign to find each and every Stitch a home.
Upon adoption, parents are given a small box of food, assorted leisure wear and an adoption certificate outlining the unique characteristics of their Stitch.
