Pamio Chair
Developed and toured by the Finnish Design Forum, Finnish Design 125 traced the transformation of Finnish design from the 19th century to the early 21st century.
Building on a tradition of beautiful handmade objects by the 1950s-60s Finland was a leading country in terms of aesthetics, fine design and applied art.
In recent years the Finns have focused on the development of design as a competitive advantage for industry – the most notable example being Nokia.
It is this application of design to commercial production and economic development that the exhibition foregrounded.
