Delicately melding together molten elements of his pacific heritage, glass artist Lyndsay Patterson’s new exhibition Navigate, invites viewers to take a revealing journey into his family’s past.

Having abandoned the corporate world several years ago, Patterson re-invented himself as a glass artist, and with a personal interest in family history has set about creating a body of works that give new voice to the stories of his sea-faring Fijian-forefathers.

By inscribing words lifted from his great-grandmother’s letters and drawing on a palette evocative of the high seas, Patterson deftly weaves together elements of his family’s colourful history into his 30 luminous glass works.
