The Dowse Foundation
In 2003, The Dowse Foundation was established as a charitable trust to promote, advocate and raise funds for the continuing development of TheNewDowse as a major facility for creative practice.
The two key purposes of the Foundation are to –
• Stimulate and sustain interest in TheNewDowse and to extend its educational and cultural influence throughout the community.
• Facilitate public arts access to the arts and in particular the visual arts and crafts through the work of The Dowse.
The Dowse Foundation contains 150 dedicated donors, who worked to raise over $2 million dollars for the $6 million dollar renovation of The Dowse in 2006 - 07 and continue to raise funds for ongoing developments.
"The redevelopment of TheNewDowse was the first target for The Dowse Foundation. Without the generous support and commitment of these donors it would not have been possible to complete the project," says Director Tim Walker.
The Dowse Foundation provides for receiving of donations, subsidies, grants, endowments, gifts, legacies and bequests either in money or kind for all or any of the purposes and objects of the Trust.
